With the holiday season approaching, now is the time to start thinking about your Gatlinburg holiday vacation. Gatlinburg is a great place to visit year-round but visitors that come to Gatlinburg during the holiday season are fortunate to enjoy many great holiday events in Gatlinburg that the whole family can enjoy. One the most popular things to do during the holiday season in Gatlinburg is to take the Trolley Ride of Lights. Offered in downtown Gatlinburg, the Trolley Ride of Lights is a special guided tour through downtown Gatlinburg and adjacent Hwy. 321 where guests can marvel over the holiday light displays. This family-friendly Gatlinburg event is a great way to celebrate the season with your loved ones.
The Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights opens on November 7th and runs until January 26th. The rides are nightly at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m. except the evening of the annual Christmas parade, Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. During the month of January, trolley excursions are only offered on Saturdays. The spectacular light displays in downtown Gatlinburg are some of the largest downtown displays in the nation. The Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights tours start at Gatlinburg’s mass transit center located beside Ripley’s Aquarium and will take you to Gatlinburg’s famous downtown Parkway and adjacent to River Road. Tours also take you to the triangle juncture of the two which features a display of custom designed and fabricated lighting that is over $1.6 million. Displays feature unique LED lighting displays and displays with animals indigenous to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park like deer, foxes, rabbits and squirrels. The Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights also goes on Hwy. 321 where there is also an impressive display of holiday lights.
The Gatlinburg Trolley Ride of Lights is one of the favorite things to do in Gatlinburg during the holiday season. Tickets for the Trolley Ride of Lights are only $5 and reservations are recommended since seating is limited.
