Take the Tram when Staying at Resorts in Gatlinburg

Gatlinburg is located right next to the stunning Great Smoky Mountains and features tons of outdoor activities and attractions to enjoy. Bring the family for the perfect vacation with tons to do!
When staying in Gatlinburg, make sure to stop by Ober Gatlinburg to ride the aerial tram. The tram is used to take skiers to the top of Mt. Harrison during the winter. The original aerial tram was built in 1972 as a safer way for skiers to reach the mountaintop instead of driving their cars up the winding mountain. In 2007, Ober Gatlinburg began updating the aerial tram with the installation of new cars made of high-grade aluminum alloy. A new electronic and computer system was installed to modernize the system and they replaced the brakes and motors to conform to safety standards.
Catch the tram in downtown Gatlinburg for a 2.1-mile ride to the resort that includes amazing aerial views of the city and mountain range. The tram ride is especially beautiful during the spring and fall when leaves are blooming or changing colors. The tramcars hold about 120 people a piece and a round-trip ticket costs $12 for adults and $9.50 for children ages 5-11. Make sure to take a tram ride for a breath-taking ride up and down the mountain!
